Paper

Mama kept paper
in the old yellow cupboard,
loose leaf and lined.
She said, be sure to use both sides.
It was for drawing
and writing stories.
She fed our minds.
I was five,
she was proud,
young Picassos,
Shakespeares undiscovered.
She fed us.
